Chat Admin
Review every conversation in the organization, search message text, and remove a message.
Open Chat admin
Chat admin is for people who manage chats for the organization.
In Chats, open Admin, then Settings. If you do not manage chats, that section is not in your sidebar.
Settings is a summary of the organization: how many groups and feeds exist, how many messages were sent this week compared with last week, how many people are in chats, and how many of them posted this week. The charts cover recent weeks.
Groups, feeds, and direct messages
Each list is every conversation of that kind, including ones you are not in.
From Settings, open one of the review cards:
Groups is every group chat. Search by the group name or by a person.
Feeds is every feed, public or private, including a short description when it has one. Search by the feed name or by a person. A feed that has been archived is marked Archived when you open it.
Direct is every one-to-one conversation. Search by a person's name.
Each row shows the name, people, the latest message, how many messages are in it, and when it was updated. Open a row to read the conversation. The page says how many people are in it and how many messages it has. Choose Load earlier messages to go further back.
Search every message
Message search looks across the organization, not only conversations you belong to.
Open Admin, then Messages. Type at least two characters. Results show the sender, a snippet of the message, and the conversation it came from.
Open a result to land in that conversation's review page. If nothing matches, the page says No messages match that search.
Delete a message for everyone
Removing a message takes it out of the conversation for every member.
Open the conversation from Groups, Feeds, Direct, or Messages. Each message has a delete button. You can also select several and choose Delete selected.
Confirm the deletion. One message says it will be removed for everyone in the conversation. Several messages use the same warning for the whole selection.
This is separate from deleting your own message inside the thread. From Chat admin you can remove a message you did not send, including a file, a voice message, or a post from an app. The conversation itself stays.
